new year eve's eve
Date: Friday, December 30, 2011 || Time: 8:28 PM
First run in eons!

Totally shagged, and died after around 15 minutes, hahaha.

Ohwell, that's a pretty okay start I guess! I feel good after running though, and can't wait to run again soon!

That will be my last run of 2011 though. But come 2012, I want to be running and running. I plan to take part in some 10k run with ZheHui and Dion, so I gotta be prepared! Not that army won't prepare me anyway.

Young Adults camp for the next 4 days.

Luwin's speaking, oh yay, gonna have a good time during the messages. Luwin really can capture my attention and get his points across, imo.

Trouble is I haven't thought of the songs for worship leading ): thankfully I'm leading on the third evening, which gives me some time...

I need HYMNS that talk about the holy spirit or the acts of the holy spirit! Drop me a text if you can think of any (though I doubt anyone knows, since everyone's so contemporary :P)!

Ciaoooo,
Davidd

P.S. It'll be my first time with the YA! Hope things don't get awkward!

What did Adam say to Eve on the day before Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Eve!

--

So I completely forgot to write Christmas cards for my friends this year ): I was rather busy, and during the free time I had, I just felt like resting - now I know why my free time felt so boring! And there I was, complaining that I had nothing to do /:

--

I went to Elliot's church yesterday, with Jerm! I went for their youth Christmas service and it was fun! The youth there outnumbers my youth by milesss, hahaha, and they were rather friendly to the newcomers (: The theme was 'reason for the season', and even though I have known that Christmas is more than just the giving/receiving of gifts, and the festivities that come along with the occasion, I never really applied it. I guess it's very easy to get caught up with all the Christmasy feelings that one would feel, and lose focus on the reason why we are even celebrating this season. So, as Christmas knocks on the door, and my church's Christmas eve service is today, I'll keep this in mind.

One of the games that was played was super mega cool! It was essentially Don't Forget The Lyrics but using a texting service, from polleverywhere - where everyone has the chance to fill in the blanks, by sending their answers to a number! Fastest fingers win! It was really cool and I think it can be an idea for other events, what with technology being so advanced now!!

Being a contemporary Baptist church, they were singing Chris Tomlin and other contemporaries, and it was a welcoming feel - especially since Hermon's very conservative and hymn-ish!! Heh.

Here's a different rendition of Joy To The World!

Merry Christmas, eve!

I've finished reading thru the Bible. Not with complete understanding yet though, but imo, reading thru the Bible in this way is not wrong and does not, in any way, de-revere the Bible. I just realised that it's kind of like what teachers taught us, in attempting comprehension questions - where we are encouraged to read thru the passage once, then reread it again, paying more attention the second time round, (though I believe no one actually does that) heh.

Anyhow, it was a pact I made with Nadine at the start of this year, and I'm glad I've stuck to it. Come next year, I hope I'll be able to do some quality (self/taught) Bible studies, going more in-depth, despite having army!

I've been playing the Chinese songs in my ipod recently, and it came to this track today.

I have always liked the tune ever since I listened to it long ago. Searched the lyrics today, and it's actually quite meaningful! I quite like 石欣卉!!!

HongKong Trip [28.11 - 1.12]

Sooooo many people I know went/are in HK during this hols! HK's like the place to be in eh! hahaha. I went with my family and we stayed at the Hollywood Disney Hotel! And so we went to Disneyland too. Granted it was mostly for kids (it's totally for kids who am I kidding) but I still had some fun there! It's good to feel young(er) at heart! We mostly went for sightseeing over at HK, not much shopping as my brother and I would have liked hahaha.

This is effectively my last family trip (save for the possible malaysia day-trips) before I enter NS! Wooo 2 more months before I enlist, and 1 more month before my results come out! In the end, I guess I'm still glad we went for this trip after all (:

Mission Trip [3.12 - 8.12]

I went to Ipoh for a youth mission trip by my church! Initially I wasn't able to go for this due to possible clashes with my HK trip, but I'm so so so so so glad the dates didn't clash. These 6 days were really awesome and fulfilling. Chances to lead, share, learn and make new and strengthen old friendships - I'm glad I came for it. :D

Through this camp, I had my very first exposure to leeches, which I never had the chance to see, due to AC having no OBS! Leeches are so disgusting! Black, slimy and slug-ish. I also got to see how salt can kill the leeches (and everything else). Of course, this isn't the biggest takeaway though! :P

Link
The speaker was really good. He was such a joker, and I think this is one of the most well-chosen speakers of all the camps I've been to! Another would be Chris Chia. He totally cracked everyone up with his jokes and asking to be called handsome etc etc! Hahaha I hope his messages got through to the Ipoh youths, as well as our own youths.
Handsome!

As there were 4 Chinese-speaking Ipoh youths, we needed to help translate the speaker's message for them, and aid them in the discussion. I joined this group to try and help! I must say this was a really trying and demanding task, since we didn't have the time to read through the message outlines before the camp itself - resulting in us having to stay back once the days' programmes were over to discuss and plan for the next day's messsage. Tired as we were, I'm glad we were all willing to sacrifice a bit of sleep and free time(: Granted uncle David was mostly the one leading the Chinese group, with this superb Chinese skills, but I must thank the rest, Zhehui, Mark, Naomi, Rebecca, Dom, for helping out so enthusiastically!!
(unofficial) Chinese group pict in the bg!

Definitely one of the major takeaways from the camp, and from any other camp, is the friendships!

New:
The 2 Chinese-speaking youths, Junkai and Jiahao.
- Inseparable friends though they had some quarrels during the camp
- Hopefully they took away something from the camp, and their parents won't stop them from coming for future Christian-related stuff.

Junkai & Jiahao

The 3 cute boys of uncle Zeb and aunty Kok Eng, Luke, Thaddeaus and Asher.
- Stay cute and lively! hahahaha

Luke

Thadd
Asher

Naomi.
- Student leader!
- Got to interact with her for the first time(:

and Old:
Yanwen.
- Group leader!
- We were both busy poking fun at Philip and Celest hahaha, and the frequent 'are you thinking what i'm thinking' looks!

Jiayi.
- Adult leader!
- Really encouraging to see him more involved with the youths! Totally following his brother's footsteps!

Mark.
- My 'Ruth' hahahaha.
- Great that I could interact with him more!
- ACS all the way!

Sent Steven and Alvin off at the airport. Met Eko and James there too! It's so fast how 4 years have passed, and now this is their sponsored-by-MOE return flight back to Indo!!

Great friendships last a lifetime. (:

Then I spent some time by myself at the airport, lounging at T3, armed with my ipod and my book. Went to woodlands and explored the library! It's a rather cool library! Then, met Sam for dinner! All in all, quite a fun day, albeit being alone for most parts. But anyhow, time alone is precious. Time alone gives me the freedom to let my thoughts flow too. Haha oh no, do I sound like I'm gonna release a novel soon!!

--

Anywayy, the class plan to go overseas doesn't seem to be materializing, what with everyone overseas and not free ): maybe a chalet would be best! Speaking of chalets, I'll be having one with my relatives and one with my church friends! Fun fun (:

This evening, I'll be going with my church friends to yewteepoint and westmall to support our children's choir who will be caroling! So cute!

..And this has been by far the most productive work I've did today! Now back to my watching of naruto!
